Stainless Steel Tactile Tiles and the Honey Do List
It’s Saturday and I am waiting in line at a home improvement store so I can load up my truck with stainless steel tactile tiles. Watching the people pack their trucks, I see them drop hammers and lumber, spill liquids and the fork lifts are gouging the ground. As I approach I see they have stainless steel tactile tiles in the loading area, which were in impeccable condition. These look better than a lot of the detectable warning tiles I see on the sidewalk. How? They are made of stainless steel, not rubber or concrete.
Stainless steel tactile tiles are gaining in popularity as developers, architects and other end users have become exposed to their benefits. These steel tiles are generally used in areas of high vehicular traffic and also where snow plows will be in contact with the tile. The benefits can vary wildly within this product segment, but we will review specifically the standard set by Advantage Tactile (www.advantagetactile.com). FYI, this was the super tile that I saw at the loading dock referenced above.
Stainless Steel Tactile Tiles
Durability – The stainless steel tactile tiles are manufactured using 16 gauge stainless steel. It will also reduce your lifecycle costs, by significantly reducing the probability of damage or need for replacement.
Snow Plow Test – The snow plow test was performed on the stainless steel tactile tiles product and it passed with flying colors. This test involves the plows blade being driven over the tile 50 times. For a viewing of this test, please view snow plow test.
Finish – Proprietary duragrip finish will not rust or peel and is impervious to all weather conditions. In addition it will increase color fade resistance.
Slip Resistance – The truncated and micro domes are stamped into the tile. Stamping is important because many other manufactures use the paint as their slip resistant surface for their stainless steel tactile tiles.
Locking design – With a perforated C-flange, the stainless steel tactile tiles will lock themselves into the concrete to withstand street traffic.
Easy Installation – Cast in place application has a low profile perimeter edge. The edge increases tile support and reduces trapped air beneath the stainless steel tactile tiles.
Warranty – 10 year product warranty. Stainless steel tactile tiles are the finest engineered, most durable, and reliable detectable warning tile in the industry. They offer superior craftsmanship enabling you to feel confident in your decision. With the increased durability this product provides, it will reduce your lifecycle costs for maintenance and/or replacement. When making your decision as to what stainless steel tactile tiles product you are going to purchase, remember to measure twice and cut once.
